About IHSA Bass Fishing
In 2009 the Illinois High School Association [IHSA] was the first state organization to sanction a state
tournament for bass fishing. There are hundreds of high school bass clubs in the state
of Illinois thanks to this great decision by the IHSA. The state has been fortunate to have many
wonderful sponsors including fishing companies, local forest preserves, bass fishing organizations, and many others who have made this movement possible. Due to the generous efforts of others, teens have been able to learn about and enjoy the sport of fishing. Some teens involved in IHSA Bass Fishing may not have been previously involved in extra-curricular activities. All teens involved have been able to learn about conservation, sportsmanship, and the lifelong outdoor recreation of fishing.
